Ses recherches sont au croisement de la sculpture, l’installation et la vidéo, tandis que d’autres médiums tels que l’écriture, la photographie et la peinture s’immiscent ponctuellement dans ses recherches. Amentia Siard Brochard se concentre sur des ‘corps figurants’, par corps, elle se réfère aux matières autant qu’aux êtres vivants et s’attache à transgresser leur anonymat. Elle est initialement formée à l’architecture à l’Universidad de Valparaiso au Chili et diplômée de l’ENSA de Bretagne (2013). Elle poursuit ses études à l’École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de la Villa Arson ainsi qu’à l’Université du Québec à Montréal en arts visuels et médiatiques. Je commence alors à élaborer ‘des extraits’, autant de passages tirés de ces expériences initiales bientôt transformées par mes intentions d’y revenir. Dans ces extraits, le temps, bien que discret, est omniprésent. Modelé, tranché, dédoublé, le temps s’étale dans les images fixes et en mouvement, les sculptures et les espaces engagés, si bien que ces derniers sont tout à la fois parcourus de mémoire, d’anticipation et de fantasmes. Chaque élément, bois tourné, cuivre plié, laiton brûlé, porte un récit lacunaire et concentre un ensemble de sensations (l’odeur du feu éteint, la douceur du chêne, le fracas du vent) tout comme mes vidéos se rapprochent d’expériences perceptuelles où les corps s’enlacent dans des temporalités artificielles, réconciliant passé et futur, présence et disparition. La distance que je maintiens dans mon processus de création avec les objets, les paysages, les êtres vivants, comme autant de corps au sens élargi, laisse émerger des intentionnalités extérieures aux miennes, des points de rencontre décentrés. Ainsi, le désir de percevoir dans chaque chose (qu’elle soit de métal, de bois, organique, pétrochimique ou chimérique) de la sentience, c’est-à-dire une capacité à vivre des expériences subjectives, me rend complice de l’animisme philosophique de Val Plumwood. [EN] Amentia Siard Brochard works across multiple mediums, from sculpture to video passing by photography, conceiving pieces in which fluidity emerges between humans and non-humans, objects and landscapes. She seeks to recreate sensitive contexts where times and spaces are perceived as non-linear, as a living matter that makes coexistence possible. Her research focuses on what she calls “extra bodies”, a notion borrowed from cinema that refers to what appears in the background — never fully identified, always in a liminal state. For her, it has become a way to transgress anonymity and explore new forms of reciprocity. Each element — turned wood, bent copper, burnt brass — carries an incomplete narrative and condenses a set of sensations (the smell of extinguished fire, the softness of oak, the crash of wind). Similarly, her videos evoke perceptual experiences where bodies become entangled within artificial temporalities, reconciling past and future, presence and disappearance. The distance Amentia maintains in her creative process from objects, landscapes, and living beings — all bodies in a broader sense — allows intentionalities beyond her own to emerge: off-centered meeting points. (voir le texte) Dans un climat général de submergence, une ligne d’horizon se déploie. Elle est plurielle, joueuse, instable… Pourtant on s’accroche à elle, qu’elle nous sorte de l’eau ou nous dévaste, c’est un repère qui guide les tensions entre les corps. Les mouvements de cette exposition m’ont parfois fait perdre pied à la façon ‘lame de fond’, pourtant je sais qu’à la fin tout sera bien calme. L’essentiel ne réside pas dans les choses mais entre elles.
